Nova Restaurant and Lounge, nestled in the heart of Allentown, Pennsylvania, sought a transformative redesign to revitalize its space. The venue, known for its dynamic atmosphere that shifts from a restaurant by day to a lively lounge and party venue by night, required an innovative design solution to update its outdated interiors and enhance its functionality.
Tirso Lighting was tasked with not only revamping the space but also incorporating a lighting design that would redefine the venue’s ambiance.
Behind the Scenes
The creation of Nova Restaurant and Lounge’s immersive atmosphere was a meticulous process, blending innovative engineering with artistic design. The installation of the curved, backlit illuminated panels serves as a testament to the dedication and skill involved. Each panel, crafted from a flexible polycarbonate material, was carefully shaped to conform to the precise curves intended in the design. The installation team, with a sharp eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to the vision, worked diligently to ensure the seamless integration of these features into the venue’s architecture. This resulted in the panels flowing effortlessly through the space, their LED backlighting casting dynamic and engaging patterns that invite patrons into a futuristic experience.
Backlit Curved Panels
Designing the curved, backlit panels was both challenging and exhilarating, striking a balance between beauty and functionality. These bespoke elements, pivotal to the interior, smooth the transition between different ceiling heights and unify various spaces into a cohesive environment. We chose a continuous, joint-free polycarbonate sheet to maintain an ultramodern look. Lighting is key, with LED linear lights highlighting the panels’ flowing forms and enabling the venue to transition smoothly from a sophisticated restaurant to a lively nightlife spot. This design not only focuses on visual appeal but also supports a versatile space that adapts to changing atmospheres and uses.
Solutions
Revamped Layout: By removing dividing walls, we fostered a seamless transition between the dining and lounge areas, enhancing the venue’s adaptability.
Futuristic Lighting Design: The centerpiece of our design was the installation of custom aluminum structures enveloped by backlit, illuminated panels using our LT300 RGB linear fixtures. This created an immersive experience that could transition in ambiance from day to night.
Innovative Use of Materials: Utilizing flexible, durable polycarbonate material allowed for the creation of seamless, 32-foot-long illuminated panels, avoiding joints and enhancing the futuristic aesthetic.
Custom Decorative Elements: From a communal table that encouraged social interaction to a ceiling-mounted bottle display and a metal bead curtain for the private dining area, each addition was meticulously designed to enhance the space’s functionality and visual appeal.
The Outcome
The renovation of Nova Restaurant and Lounge has been heralded as a remarkable success. The space now boasts a modern, cohesive design that fluidly transitions between its various uses. The innovative lighting solutions not only serve as a striking visual feature but also enable the venue to alter its ambiance to suit any event or time of day, effectively supporting its dual function as a restaurant and a nightlife hub.
