Romo Restaurant in Paterson, New Jersey was designed to be more than just a dining space. The goal was to create a visually engaging environment that blends upscale restaurant aesthetics with a lively, entertainment-driven atmosphere. From the moment guests walk in, the space is designed to capture attention through illuminated surfaces, layered lighting, and immersive visual elements that elevate the overall experience.
Working closely with the owners from the early stages, the project focused on creating strong focal points that would not only enhance the look of the venue but also drive engagement and energy throughout the room.
3D Renderings
Detailed 3D renderings played an important role in bringing the Romo vision to life. Through digital visualization, we were able to explore material selections, lighting placement, and the interaction between architectural finishes and technology before installation began. This process allowed the team to refine proportions, test illumination levels, and ensure that every design feature would work cohesively once built. By reviewing the space in a fully rendered environment, ownership and the project team were able to make confident decisions early in the process. This ensured that the final result closely matched the original concept while streamlining coordination between trades, fabricators, and installers during construction.
Solutions
Custom Illuminated Cristallo Countertop: Close collaboration with the stone manufacturer and fabricator ensured the illuminated Cristallo bar countertop achieved a flawless finish. Precision planning allowed lighting and material to work seamlessly together, creating a glowing centerpiece that anchors the entire room.
Integrated LED Display & Bottle Presentation: A large LED display behind the bar was introduced as a central attraction, flanked by illuminated bottle displays that enhance depth and symmetry. This setup allows the venue to showcase sports, branded visuals, and celebratory content that engages guests and drives interaction.
Layered Lighting Design: Linear LED lighting, accent lighting, and decorative fixtures were strategically integrated to highlight textures, tile work, and architectural features throughout the space. This layered approach creates a warm, inviting atmosphere during dining hours and a dynamic energy for nightlife.
Precision Finish Coordination: Detailed integration between recessed lighting channels, tile finishes, and architectural elements required close coordination between all trades. The result is a clean, flush finish that reinforces the high-end quality of the space.
Centralized Control System: A custom-designed control app was implemented to manage lighting, video displays, and TV systems from a single platform. This provides staff with simple, efficient control over the entire environment, allowing quick transitions between dining and entertainment modes.
Bar Countertop & LED Display
The bar at Romo Restaurant was designed to function as the heartbeat of the entire space. At its center is a custom illuminated Cristallo countertop that immediately captures attention upon entry. Achieving this result required close collaboration with the stone manufacturer and fabricators to ensure the lighting integration, material thickness, and finish all aligned perfectly. The final installation creates a soft, radiant glow that highlights the natural beauty of the stone while setting a warm and inviting tone throughout the room.
Behind the bar, a large LED display serves as a major visual attraction and engagement tool. Positioned strategically for maximum visibility, the screen allows the venue to showcase live sports, custom birthday messages, branded content, and dynamic visuals that energize the space. Together, the glowing countertop and LED display create a powerful focal point that draws guests in, encourages interaction, and reinforces the venue’s modern, high-energy identity.
The Outcome
Romo Restaurant now stands as a vibrant hospitality destination that successfully blends refined dining with high-energy entertainment. The completed design delivers a visually striking environment where lighting, materials, and digital displays work together to create a cohesive and memorable guest experience.
