Elite BK, nestled in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, at 128 Metropolitan Avenue, embarked on a transformative journey to redefine its ambiance and elevate the dining experience.
Previously known as Havana Social, a Cuban restaurant with a rather standard aesthetic, Elite BK sought to rejuvenate its space. In 2019, this 2,000-square-foot venue turned to us to breathe new life into its interiors, including a revamped lighting design that would set the stage for unforgettable dining experiences.
Lighting Design
WAC Lighting Fixtures: Summit LED track heads and WSEH tracks were strategically placed to illuminate each dining table, ensuring the culinary creations were in the spotlight.
Intimate Rear Dining Area: For the more intimate rear dining space with lower ceilings, one-inch recess fixtures were installed over each table, maintaining the focus on the dining experience.
Bar and Stairwell Highlights: Customized action pendants bearing the venue’s name, Elite, adorned the bar, while a cascading pendant design along the stairwell served as a captivating focal point, enhancing the venue’s modern allure.
Mood Lighting: The TLI LED Tribune RGB system was employed to accentuate the custom 3D panels, bar facade, and host stand, highlighting the intricate designs and contributing to the venue’s ambiance.
Solutions
Interior and Seating Layout: The seating arrangement was reconfigured to maximize the dining area’s capacity, enhancing both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the space. This rearrangement was instrumental in transforming the dining experience, making it more inclusive and dynamic.
Ceiling and Lighting Overhaul: A comprehensive approach was taken to flatten the ceiling, creating a visually appealing continuity across the restaurant. This foundation allowed for the integration of sophisticated lighting solutions that aligned with the contemporary design ethos we aimed to achieve.
Custom 3D Wall Panels: In collaboration with a local CNC machinist, we custom-designed and fabricated 3D panels from MDF material. The largest panel, stretching 20 feet in length and about six feet in height, became a striking feature in the main dining area, with additional panels enhancing the rear dining space and bar facade, creating a cohesive visual narrative throughout Elite BK.
The Outcome
The transformation of Elite BK from a Cuban restaurant with a basic layout to a contemporary dining destination is a testament to innovative design and strategic planning. The custom 3D panels, coupled with meticulously designed lighting, have set Elite BK apart, offering guests an elevated dining experience. The result is not just a renovated space but a rebirth of Elite BK as a staple in Brooklyn’s dining scene, ready to welcome guests into its newly refined embrace.
